Maintain Good Eye Health With Eye Exams

Regular eye checkups are essential for maintaining good eye health. They provide feedback on eye function and check for signs of eye disease.

Local, family-owned Waco Vision Center offers comprehensive eye exams for your benefit. We will evaluate your eyes for any signs of vision problems, and prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses. Call (254) 741-1022 to schedule an appointment.

When to Have an Eye Exam

A comprehensive eye exam is recommended every year based on the age and physical condition of the individual, and any underlying risk factors.

People wearing eyeglasses or contacts should have their eyes checked on an annual basis. Those suffering from health conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, need more frequent eye examinations, as these health issues can have a major impact on eye health and vision.

Everyone over the age of 60 should be examined annually as the risk of eye disease increases with advanced age. Those individuals who are over the age of 40 should have their eyes checked every one to two years for age-related problems, such as presbyopia, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

If you have been experiencing changes in vision, a comprehensive eye exam will determine whether a change in prescription is needed. Even if you don’t need vision correction, an eye exam is still recommended.

What Constitutes an Eye Exam?

Each exam comprises a set of detailed tests and procedures that focus on examining and evaluating eye health and the quality of vision.

The tests can range from simple tests, such as an eye chart reading test, to more complex tests, such as the examination of your eye tissue. In the latter case, your eye doctor would use a high-powered lens to inspect the condition of the tissues inside of your eyes.
