Therapeutic Optometrist/Optometric Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Long Do is originally from Arlington, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. While at UTA he was a multi-year officer of Pre-Optometry Professional Society and work as an optometric technician at Boyd Eye Care and eyewear specialist at Visionworks.
Dr. Do graduated top of his class from the Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2013. While attending optometry school in San Antonio he was awarded the Academic Excellence Scholarship and graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. He was also awarded the 2011 Service Award for his contributions to student programs and served as the President of the Student Texas Optometry Association.
Dr. Do has clinical rotations in private practices in San Antonio and at the San Antonio Veterans Affairs hospital. He is experienced in contact lenses, cataract and Lasik co-management, pediatrics, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other ocular diseases. He also has training in treating medical eye exams such as foreign body removal and treating ocular infections.
Dr. Do is a Texas Board of Optometry certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is able to prescribe topical and oral medications to treat the eye and visual system. He is a member of the Texas Optometry Association, American Optometry Association, and Tarrant County Optometric Society.
Dr. Do enjoys spending time with his wife and their Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix. He also likes watching basketball and football, traveling, and volunteering at animal shelters. He strides to provide thorough eye exams with exceptional bed side manner.
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Kathy McCain, O.D. was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with honors from South Cobb High School in 1972. She then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Optics from University of Alabama, and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Alabama School of Optometry. While there, she was selected to represent the school on the national-level as an American Optometric Student Representative. She graduated with honors and became a Doctor of Optometry in 1981.
Dr. McCain joined private practice with her then-soon-to-be-husband (also an Optometrist) in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1981. Soon after, she started a family and is mother to a daughter and son. The family loved to travel, and Dr. McCain has practiced over the years in Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, as well as a year spent in Saudi Arabia where her husband practiced. She currently holds licenses to practice in Georgia, Texas, and New York.
Dr. McCain began her Texas practice in Austin with Dr. Lon Bradley Lockhart, M.D., Pediatric Ophthalmologist, where she honed her skills and love for pediatric care. She enjoyed having her own practice in Mesquite, Texas for sixteen years before joining Key-Whitman Eye Center in Dallas prior to her move to Waco.
Dr. McCain is experienced in contact lenses, cataract evaluations, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma screenings, macular degeneration, and other ocular diseases. She also performs medical eye exams such as foreign body removal and treating ocular infections. She is Texas Board of Optometry Certified as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She is able to prescribe topical and oral medications to treat the eye and visual system.
In addition to her long optometry career, Dr. McCain is immensely proud of her children. Her daughter, Christina, is an attorney in New York State, and her son, Andrew, is a Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist in Dallas, Texas. She also is Nanna to the two most perfect and adorable granddaughters who bring her endless joy. Dr. McCain is grateful for her friends, family, and Christian faith, and enjoys traveling, yoga, and is cautiously attempting pickleball.
After 40 years of practice, Dr. McCain is incredibly thankful to still love her work and her patients. She gets such gratification from being of service to her patients, helping them and being part of their lives. Her move to Waco, where the people remind her of the kind, down-to-earth, friendly people she grew up with, has been a blessing. She is grateful to be your doctor and is always here to help.
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Martinez was born in Texas and has lived here most of my life. He lived in Mexico for a small portion of his childhood. Dr. Martinez went to undergraduate at Baylor, UT Austin. He received his doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston School of Optometry.
Dr. Martinez usually spends his free time with my family cooking and eating. He loves playing basketball, working out, soccer, and watching movies of any genre. He also loves learning new languages and creating or listening to music. He is passionate about systemic health, problem solving, and skill building of any sort because you can learn something new no matter how simple or complex.
Doctor of Optometry
A Texas native, Dr. Dinh attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduation, she enrolled in optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She finished her internships at Bridge Builders Eye Clinic in Dallas, TX and Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, CA. During these rotations, she developed an interest in the treatment and management of ocular diseases and a passion for providing the highest quality patient care possible.
When Dr. Dinh is not with her patients, she and her husband enjoy travelling and eating at new restaurants.
Office Manager
Janet Tate is the Office Manager and has been with Waco Vision Center for 4 years. She oversees daily operations and staff. She has gained a plethora of knowledge of the optometric profession. She makes sure that Waco Vision Center provides friendly and outstanding customer service. Janet is a jack of all trades, she is able to assist in every aspect of exams to help the office run smoothly and to provide our patients with a pleasant experience in optical care.
Janet is from Waco, Texas and resides in Waco. She is a mother of 2. She loves spending time with family and friends.
Insurance Specialist
Janie is the office manager and has been with the company for 22 years. She has a wealth of knowledge in the optometric profession. Janie oversees the staff and daily operations while making sure Waco Vision Center provides outstanding customer service to each and every patient. She is cherished in the office and has patients that come to our office just to see her.
Janie is originally from Bryson City, North Carolina and currently resides in Eddy. She has 5 children and 10 grandchildren. On her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, and gardening. She is currently engaged. Her dream vacation is to go on a cruise.
Doctor of Optometry - Retired
Dr. H.L. Phillips is originally from east Texas and currently resides in Waco. He graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1972. Dr. Phillips has 44 years of experience practicing optometry in the state of Texas. He has been practicing with the company for 22 years.
Dr. Phillips is a Texas Board of Optometry certified Doctor of Optometry. He has a warm personally and patients have been returning to see him for years. He has experience in contact lenses, detecting glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye diseases.
Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with his two sons. He also likes to ride his motorcycles and boating.
